Do I need a medical check- up?

No medical check-up is required and nearly everyone is eligible.

What is the age limit for this cover?

Between 18 and 70 years old, age next birthday, for Participant/Spouse and any child travelling with the Participant between 30 days and 18 years or up to 25 years who is still a full-time and residing in Malaysia.

Can I claim accident damages under both contracts/policies if I am holding contracts/policies from two Takaful Operators and/or insurance companies at the same time?

Yes, the cash benefit for accidental death and disability will not be affected by other takaful or insurance covers.

How do you classify an incident as an accident?

An accident is an unexpected, unforeseeable and external event, such as a fall or a car crash, which causes physical injury like a broken limb or torn muscle. A disease or an illness is not classified as an accident.

What types of medical expenses are covered under this takaful contract?
Can I claim for outpatient expenses incurred through sickness?

If you sustain an accidental injury, such as a broken arm, this takaful contract will cover you for any necessary and reasonable expenses incurred for in-hospital and outpatient medical, surgical or nursing treatment, including the costs of medical supplies. However, the cost of dental care and treatment is not covered unless such treatment is an emergency and is caused by accidental injury to sound natural teeth. As sickness is not classified as an accident, the medical expenses incurred cannot be covered under this takaful contract.

Do I need to renew the Travel Protection upon expiry?

How do I pay?

You can subscribe online while making your contribution with credit card or FPX.

How can I reach HLMT if I have any questions?

You can e-mail your enquiry to ReachUs@takaful.hongleong.com.my and we will respond to you within 48 hours. Note that enquiries on product information, contributions and claims can be made via e-mail. Enquiries may also be directed to HLMT at 03-7650 1800.

What happens if I were to key in the wrong personal details?

Go to www.hlmsigtakaful.com.my, log-in with your user ID and password, and click on "Update Profile". Then amend your personal details. Please note that you are not allowed to change your First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, New IC number, Passport number and Permanent Address. If you have made a mistake in filling in any of these details, please send an email to ReachUs@takaful.hongleong.com.my and we will rectify it for you.

Can I reprint my policy schedule with the amended details?

No. You need to contact HLMT to obtain a takaful certificate with the amended details.

What if I am having trouble downloading /viewing the takaful certificate from the email or website?

The policy certificate is created in the latest PDF format which means you need to have the latest Adobe Reader software to download the policy certificate. Relax. This software is free. Just click on http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html to install Adobe Reader on your computer.

If I lose my email attachment (takaful certificate) how do I retrieve it?

Just go to www.hlmsigtakaful.com.my/ and log in to your account. Under "Takaful Service" on the left navigation bar, click on "My HLMT Takaful". Then click on the "Travel PA Takaful No". Voila! Your takaful certificate document will appear.

Does HLMT recruit agents to sell its product?

Yes, for selected products. Alternatively, you should only subscribe to our products at www.hlmsigtakaful.com.my

Can I pay the contribution by installment?

We've tried to keep our contribution as competitive as possible. But to do this, we require you to pay your annual contribution in one lump sum.

What is this product about?

This product will indemnify you in the manner and to the extent described in the Master Certificate, in respect of events occurring during your journey within the period of Takaful Coverage. All benefits payable under this contract shall be paid to you, and in the event of your death, to your nominee(s) or nominated beneficiary if stated in the Takaful Certificate, otherwise to your estate.

What are some of the key terms and conditions I should be aware of?

  • Age limit: At the time of issuance of Takaful Certificate:
    (i) Participant/Spouse: 18 and 70 years old, age next birthday
    (ii) Children (for Family Plan only): 30 days and 25 years old, subject to terms and conditions as stated in the Master Certificate.
  • For Single Trip, the maximum number of days allowed per journey or trip is 185 consecutive days from the commencement date of journey.
  • Applicable to Malaysian, Malaysian Permanent Resident, Work Permit Holder, Employment Pass Holder or otherwise legally employed in Malaysia and/or his/her legal Spouse and Child/Children.
  • Each trip must begin and end in Malaysia.
  • We will not be liable for the same claim under more than one Takaful Certificate for the same Covered Person relating to the same Period of Cover issued by us or our authorized agents.
Individual Plan
  • You, or any one eligible person certificate between the age of 18 and 70 years old, next birthday.
Individual & Spouse Plan
  • You and your legal spouse (one), between the age of 18 and 70 years old, next birthday.
Family Plan
  • You, your legal spouse (one), between the age of 18 and 70 years old, next birthday and up to a maximum number of 3 fully dependent children up to the age of 25 years who is studying full-time in a recognized institution or higher learning, all residing in Malaysia accompanying you on the journey. The child must be at least 30 days old.
Importance of Disclosure
  • You must disclose all material facts that you know or ought to know; otherwise your contract may be invalidated.
Cash Before Cover
  • It is fundamental and absolute special condition of the Master Certificate that the contribution due must be paid and received by us before cover commences. If this condition is not complied with then the Master Certificate is automatically null and void.

What are some of the major exclusions I should be aware of?

This contract does not cover death or injury caused by or due to :

  • War and related risks, including riot or civil commotion
  • Radioactive and nuclear weapon material accidents
  • Suicide (whether sane or insane) or any attempt thereat
  • Illness, diseases, infections.
  • Childbirth, miscarriage, pregnancy or any other complications thereof
  • Flying as a pilot or crew member in any aircraft
  • Intoxicating liquor or drug not prescribed by qualified registered medical practitioner
  • Travelling contrary to medical advice or specifically to obtain medical treatment
  • Radioactive and nuclear weapon material accidents
  • Terrorism

Can I cancel my contract?

You may cancel your contract by giving written notice to us. However, there will be no refund of contribution allowed.

It is important that you inform us of any change in your contact details to ensure that all correspondences reach you in a timely manner.

4 Steps Claim Process - How do I make a claim?

Step 1 - Claim Notification

You should immediately notify the us by writing in, giving indication as to the nature and extent of loss or damage.
Notify the police immediately.

Step 2 - Claim Form Requisition

Claim forms are available at our office or can be downloaded here according to the different products.

Step 3 - Completion of Claim Form

All information required in the claim form must be answered and signed by the claimant or third party insured.
Please refer to the claim supporting document checklist and submit the necessary original document(s).

Step 4 - Claim Submission

All claims must be submitted with the necessary original supporting documents to us as soon as possible.

When do I need to inform HLMT of an accident that I intend to claim upon?

Within 20 days of the accident occurring. In the case of accidental death or injury, HLMT has to be notified immediately

What happens next?
