Yes. This Certificate offers option to renew for another period of 10 years without underwriting upon expiry of this Certificate, provided that there is no breach of all or any conditions governing this Certificate and as herein contained and as may be endorsed in the Certificate.

Yes but no benefit will be payable. The surrender will be effective on the next contribution due date, where the coverage continues till then.

No medical check-up is required for this product.

You can pay your contribution by Credit card or Debit card via Standing Instruction (SI).

We will pay TPD Benefit upon 6 months regular medical attendance and with the provision that you are not able to recover thereafter. The basic Sum Covered will be payable 6 months from the time of incidence of TPD. For Presumptive TPD, the benefit will be payable immediately.

You may renew your Certificate for a maximum number of 2 times, subject to maximum expiry age of 75, age next birthday, whichever is earlier.

The minimum Sum Covered is RM100,000 and the maximum Sum Covered is RM500,000.

You can pay the contribution on annually, half-yearly, quarterly or monthly basis.

The minimum entry age is 18 years old and the maximum entry age is 65 years old, age next birthday.

HLM Takaful i-Salam is a standalone term plan that provides a lump sum benefit payment upon Death or Total and Permanent Disability (TPD), whichever earlier, during the certificate term. This plan does not include, where applicable, any savings or investment elements.

The certificate will expire at the end of the 10 years term.

You can choose who will receive the Benefit upon your death by filling in a Nomination form. Your Certificate will state whether you have already nominated a person to receive the Benefit. If you have not nominated anyone, please complete the Nomination form which can be obtained from the Takaful Operator's head office and send it to the Takaful Operator immediately.

If you do not pay your Contribution within the Grace Period, your Certificate may lapse and no benefit will be payable.

PARTICIPATING IN A FAMILY TAKAFUL PLAN IS A LONG-TERM FINANCIAL COMMITMENT. YOU MUST CHOOSE THE TYPE OF CERTIFICATE THAT BEST SUITS YOUR PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCES. YOU SHOULD READ AND UNDERSTAND THE TAKAFUL CERTIFICATE AND DISCUSS WITH THE AGENT OR CONTACT THE TAKAFUL OPERATOR DIRECTLY FOR MORE INFORMATION.

  • Option to renew without underwriting
    Upon expiry of this Certificate, and provided that there is no breach of all or any conditions governing this Certificate and as herein contained and as may be endorsed in the Certificate, the Contribution rate will vary upon renewal and level for a period of ten (10) years without any underwriting.
  • Free-look period - you may cancel your Certificate by returning the Certificate within fifteen (15) days after the Certificate has been delivered to you. The Takaful Operator will refund the full Contribution paid.
  • Grace Period – Thirty (30) days of Grace Period from the subsequent Contribution Due Date are allowed for the payment of a subsequent Contribution. If Contribution remains unpaid at the end of this Grace Period, the Certificate may lapse.
  • Non-Payment of Contribution - If at the expiration of the Grace Period and the payment of any Contribution is in default, or any amount payable under this Certificate is not paid by the relevant due date in accordance with this Certificate, the Certificate shall lapse and has no further value.
  • Nomination - you can choose who will receive the Benefit(s) upon your death by filling in a Nomination form. Your Certificate will state whether you have already nominated a person to receive the Benefit(s). If you have not chosen anyone, please complete the Nomination form which can be obtained from the Takaful Operator's representative and send it to the Takaful Operator immediately.
  • It may not be advantageous to surrender or replace an existing Certificate with another certificate, as you may be subject to new underwriting requirements, e.g. full waiting period etc. under the new takaful certificate.
  • It is important for Participant to keep the receipt or Debit Card/ Credit card/ Bank Statement or Participant's pay slip as proof of payment of contribution for any future reference.

1 Death In the event of death of the Person Covered,the death Benefit(s) payable shall be the Sum Covered as per Schedule. Notwithstanding anything herein to the contrary, for payment of death Benefit, death must occur before the Expiry Date. 10
2 Total Permanent Disability (TPD) up to certificate anniversary after attaining age 65 The TPD Benefit payable under this Certificate shall be the Sum Covered as per Schedule. Notwithstanding anything herein to the contrary, the coverage for this plan shall be up to the certificate anniversary date after the Person Covered attained the age of 65 years old. 10

No Death Benefit shall be payable if:

  • Death is due to suicide within twelve (12) months from the Entry Date.

No TPD Benefit shall be payable if:

  • Influence of alcohol, narcotics or misuse of drugs;
  • Participating in or training for any hazardous or dangerous sport;
  • War, invasion, act of foreign enemies, hostilities, civil war or civil commotion.

Tabarru'
Tabarru' means a certain portion of the Contribution that the Participant agrees to donate upon occurrence of events approved by Shariah Committee of the Takaful Operator, thus enabling him to fullfill his obligation of mutual help and joint guarantee should any of his fellow Participants suffer a defined loss where his donation is meant to help others and others’ donations are meant to help him.

Iltizam Bi Al-Tabarru’
Iltizam bi Al Tabarru’ means the commitment to make Tabarru’.

Ju'alah
Ju’alah means an agreement in which the Participant agrees to reward the Takaful Operator for its achievement or good performance in managing the Participants' Risk Fund (PRF) that leads to surplus to the PRF. Any surplus from the PRF is to be shared between the Participant and the Takaful Operator in the ratio of 50:50 respectively.

Wakalah
Wakalah means essentially an agent-principal relationship, where the Takaful Operator acts as an agent on behalf of the Participants to manage the PRF on the Participants’ behalf and the Takaful Operator earns Wakalah Fee for services rendered.
